Huskers vs Badgers 2011

What do you say about getting pounded like that on national tv?

First the good.  The first quarter the Huskers looked good, played well on offense and defense against a very good Wisconsin team.  The o-line were moving people off the ball and pretty much doing what they wanted to.  It was good to see Brandon Kennie make some grabs and block a couple of guys so far into the bench I was worried there were flags coming.  Jared Crick … Read More....

Huskers vs Fresno State 9-2011

That was not what the Huskers thought would happen.  A Fresno State team that came to win not to be a punching bag for the “superior” team.

I am not going to review the game down by down.  I am going to say that it was a good win for the Huskers and a great punch in the face.  Exactly what this team needed in week 2.  The offense still didn’t have any fluidity in the first half but then … Read More....

Huskers Final Big 12 Conference Game

The Huskers played their final Big 12 conference game last night against the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship game.  It was a tough loss 23-20 but a classic OU vs NU game.  Way to end a long standing rivalry.

The Huskers played some inspired ball in the first quarter but things stopped clicking after that.  The Blackshirts played a great game against a very tough Sooner offense.  They were put in bad position after bad position time after time … Read More....

Huskers Down Missouri One Final Time

The Huskers dominated an unbeaten Missouri team 31-17 one final time before the Huskers move to the Big Ten next season.

The big story of the day was Roy Helu’s monster rushing day.  He ran for a Husker single game record with 304 rushing yard and 3 touchdowns on 28 carries.  Helu had touch down runs of 66 and 73 in the first quarter and 53 in the third.  Roy passed Calvin Jones for the single game record.

Huskers at Okie State 2010

Wow, that was a fast paced, high scoring game. What a great way to end the series between the Huskers and Cowboys.

Taylor Martinez played his butt off. He showed the nation that he can not only run the ball but can throw it as well. He finished the game 23 of 35 for 323 and 5 TD’s as well as 112 yards rushing. Pretty impressive stats for the freshman. I am still having a hard time figuring out how … Read More....

Taylor Martinez for Hiesman Over.

Not that Taylor really had a great shot this year, being a Freshman and all but the Texas game ended it.

The problem?  Taylor is a young QB.  He ran at times when he should have dumped the ball off.  Texas played to make him win with his arm and not his legs.  They did that extremely well.  Problem is that Taylor made most of the throws, his WR’s and RB’s let him down.

If two of those passes were … Read More....

Taylor Martinez and the Heisman

After last nights performance against Kansas State there is a lot of talk by Husker fans about Taylor and where he stands in the Heisman race.  I want to get my 2 cents in.

First I think he really should be in the race based on his performance so far.  That said I don’t think he is the best player in Div I football today.  I actually think the most dominate player I have seen all year is Trent Richardson.  … Read More....

Taylor Martinez displays skills versus Kansas State

Well what can you say.  If you watched the game last night (10-7-2010) you know what I am talking about.

Taylor Martinez put on a show in prime time.  He set a new single game rushing record by a QB, 241 yards the 8th best rushing output by a player in team history.  He also score 4 rushing touchdowns.  Lots of great I-Backs on that list.

C. Jones          294
M. Rozier         285
K. Clark           256
R. Berns          255
I.M. Hipp         … Read More....

Taylor Martinez shows he is a stud in his first action

Taylor Martinez had a breakout game on Saturday.  Given it was against Western Kentucky who has lost 21 straight, but the red shirt freshman showed Husker fans what he has.  Taylor ran for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns one of them a 46 yard run right up the middle.

Not only did he run well but he threw the ball well.  9 of 15 for 136 yards; no touchdowns but no interceptions either.

A QB with that kind of skill … Read More....
